Best Coast kultivieren auf ihrem dritten Album California Nights erneut ihren typischen Schrammelpop. Langsam stellen sich bei dem Duo allerdings leichte Abnutzungserscheinungen ein, etwas zu geschliffen klingen viele der neuen Songs. Mac McCaughan veröffentlicht mit Non-Believers sein erstes Solo-Album unter eigenem Namen. Immerhin macht er seit 1989 Musik und hat mit Bands wie Superchunk und Portastatic unzählige Scheiben veröffentlicht. Dass auch in Marokko tolle Popmusik komponiert wird, beweist die Sängerin Hindi Zahra auf ihrem zweiten Album Homeland und Junip Bandmitglied James Mathé aka Barbarossa meldet sich mit seinem Werk Imager zurück.
